Drivers: I have an Acer who cannot find Ethernet/Network Controller Driver Hey Guys. I have this problem with a computer. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate on a Acer Aspire One HAPPY. But it can't go on the internet. Windows says that there are missing Ethernet Controller Driver and Network Controller Driver. I opened the device manager, and sure enough, the Ethernet device icon was a big yellow question mark. It seems we need to install the drivers. The computer is a Dell Optiplex 320 running Windows XP. The Ethernet controller is labeled Broadcom Corporation BCM440-B0 100base tx (rev 02) (we had another friend use Fedora to find that out).

A computer or laptop Ethernet controller allows you to make a wired connection to a computer network. This provides access to the network programs and resources, including a high-speed Internet connection. If you reinstalled your operating system, installed a new Ethernet controller or need to troubleshoot an existing Ethernet controller, you must download and install the proper drivers from the manufacturer’s website. Before you can do this, you must determine the Ethernet controller’s model.
.Click the Start button and type “Device Manager” in the search box.
.Click “Device Manager” from the search results to launch the Device Manager utility.
.Click the arrow next to “Network Adaptors” and record the Ethernet controller model information.
.Launch your Internet browser and navigate to the Ethernet controller manufacturer’s website.
.Navigate to the drivers section of the website. This will be different for each website, but is usually located under “Drivers,” “Downloads” or “Support.” You can also select the “Products” section and navigate to the Ethernet controller section.
.Type in your Ethernet controller model when prompted. Sometimes, you may need to select model from a drop-down menu or list of links.
.Navigate to the “Downloads” or “Drivers” section on the Ethernet controller information page, if needed.
.Save the driver file to your computer. Typically, this will be an '.exe' file that allows you to double-click to install.
