Planar Adventures' new Archetypes are all hilarious. Especially the Gloomblade.
This is mostly for people who bought the book already, sure. The rest of you will just have to wait for Nethys to add this.The wait is over! That was fast! It's like he did it before I realized, or something!
It will be worth the wait, I assure you. Hell, it's pretty much worth the $10 price tag for the PDF.
As I said, all of the new archetypes are hilarious- either in a good, or a bad way.
But the one I like most, so far, is the Fighter archetype, the Gloomblade. This cheerful fellow gets Stealth as a class skill, and gains the Shadow Weapon ability, which allows him to create a weapon, as a move action, in the form of any weapon he is proficient in. He can eventually create two, allowing for TWF if that's your fetish. At 3rd, he gets enchantment bonuses and at 7th, can also give his weapons special qualities, and the list is pretty good: Flaming, frost, keen, ghost touch, vicious, among others. The second tier, at 11th, gets better, with such winners as Holy, unholy, and the burst abilities. 15th allows for brilliant energy or speed. (And dancing, lmao.)
Something of a late bloomer, I confess, but for being self-sufficient, he's pretty good.
He gets better, too, because at 9th level, he can add a special property to his weapon. One of these is to increase the range by 5 feet. Just cuz.
Only real problem is losing heavy armor and shields. Didn't notice that at first, but it's not like Fighters don't get feats or anything.
I still think it has potential!
