It gets the job done. Will auto save if you CHECK save to subfolder with current date. PREVENTS LOSING DATA.

Tries to automate the process so you are either at one end of the spectrum or the other.
Adding more middle ground would be appreciated.

MP Navigator's default 'save to' file is evidently linked to the software's interface 'live'. Software interface window is too small and new files list a the end rather than the beginning. User has to scroll endlessly to arrive at newly scanned items. If user deletes already saved documents from Navigator interface window user is deleting files from the default 'save to' file. If user hasn't resaved items to personal folders before closing software the user will lose all scanned documents.

Summary

The software is rudimentary at best. The interface is complicated to understand and discern how to use, and there are very little instructions. Interface 'preview pane' is tiny and the newly scanned files appear at the end of a list rather than the beginning, thus the user has to scroll through a sea of documents to arrive at the new ones in order to save. RECOMMENDATION: If you simply have no other choice of software and must use the MP Navigator for scanning and saving documents, take the time to click through the File Tree and save the document in your own file not the default 'save to' file. If you have to close the software window before complete (such as to recycle the computer) user will lose any data scanned into MP Navigator. No where in my instructions does it give this information. What a waste of a day!

1. Cannot switch between my Canon MP5100 and MP6100 printer/scanner.
2. Difficult to obtain support from Canon.
3, Interface is 'clunky' (technical term). It forces user through many unintuitive screens to manually adjust scanner settings.

Program is badly written. No way to change most preferences. Manual is simplistic and mostly useless unless you are a computer illiterate.

Summary

There are many better written, more useful free programs that do the same thing, and more! Full of 'little' bugs. Example: 'options' are pre-checked (and can be unchecked) with no way of changing the 'default' setting. Appears to have been written specifically to force an upgrade. My experience in trying to upgrade resulted in a barrage of adware warnings. Recommendation: Look for another program that does the things YOU want it to do, then dump MP Navigator EX. My opinion of Canon has been lowered by this software and it's attendant adware.

Summary

MP Navigator EX came with my Canon CanoScan Lide 100 Scanner. Your download disabled my scanner. I had to uninstall this so called update and reinstall the program from my scanner disc. Your automatic update checker made a serious mistake. Fortunately, I was able to correct it.

I've had a most frustrating time with MP Navigator 4.0 and with Solutions MenuEX with my new Canon Pixma MG 6150. Followed all advice from Canon and Microsoft, installing, uninstalling and reinstalling many many times with no success. Finally found a blog which indicated that the problem is that I had not uninstalled the drivers for my previous Dell AIO 944 printer. I uninstalled the Dell 944 and was careful to search for and uninstall a leftover 'twain_32' file relating to the Dell printer. I reinstalled the two above pieces of Canon software and BINGO they work perfectly.

Can drag a document to several folders while the original stays put.

Cons

I haven't found documentation for all the functions.
Changing the default save location has been a challenge.
Didn't like all the ads on the download page. Confusing to know what you are downloading.
